1:00 to 2:30 p.m.— Reading of SPACE writing contest winners
5B.16
The winners and honourable mentions of the 6th annual SPACE writing competition will read from their works—a mix of poetry, prose and personal essays—from 1:00-2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 8th in 5B.16. Please join us to hear their personal interpretations of this year’s SPACE theme, UNCERTAINTY.
The submissions to the competition were judged in a blind fashion by Hannah Rahimi (Faculty, English), and Lois Valliant (retired Faculty, Fine Arts). Entries were evaluated according to originality and depth of thought, style, and connection to the theme.
You can read all of the pieces, along with the judges’ comments here.

Thursday, May 9
2:00 to 4:00 p.m.—VR Science
3C.1
Would you like to be immersed in a cell to synthesize a protein? Embark on a time machine to analyze the molecules responsible for ecological disasters? Or travel to a space station to discover the mystery of dark matter? You'll be able to do just that by experiencing/visualizing our serious VR games. You'll have the opportunity to appreciate the advantages and challenges that this technology poses for teaching.
