SPACE365: Make Things That Matter is a complementary course offered as an INTENSIVE in the Winter 2025 semester, open to all students. Students create self-directed projects generated from their own interests and activities or from a list of activities taking place in the 2025-2026 academic year. The course also links to SPACE co-curricular activities.
Winter 2026 pre-semester dates:
January 8,9,12,15,16,19
The intensive will feature the use of frontier AI tools for project building and brainstorming this semester.
The intensive course framework will allow students to fulfill additional requirements of the SPACE certificate. There will be 36 hours of class time before the start of semester, 2 checkpoints during the semester and a final presentation at the end of the students' chosen project.
The course explores problem solving, maker culture, innovation, and the future through the application of systems and design thinking, social impact tool sets and related methodologies. Students are encouraged to draw inspiration and incorporate knowledge, skills and problems from their programs and any other learning activities or extra-curriculars they may be already involved in. A strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary exploration provides guided opportunities for integration of the arts and sciences where students, working in a group or individually, are given freedom to choose a suitable format for their major term project.
