Workshop Overview
Translating Science Workshop Thursday, February 19 from 4:00-5:30 PM in Room 3F.3
In this workshop, students will be introduced to various ways they might “Translate Science” for the general public. Perhaps as a MakerSPACE intern or a participant in the McGill Physics Hackathon, you would like to educate others about what a Makerspace or a Hackathon is, how it works and what it can teach us. Perhaps you would like to share your experience as part of the ASTRO PI Mission Space Lab, or explain quantum technology to your fellow students. Perhaps you would like to write an imaginative piece of science fiction prototyping or a science-related poem for the upcoming 8th annual SPACE writing contest (deadline Monday, March 23).
Whatever your interest, come discover how you can take activities and projects you are already involved in and “translate” them to help promote science for all. The possibility of visual translations, through comics, graphics, video, etc. will be explored as well. Students will also be guided through the SPACE submissions toolkit, which will help them polish and prepare their “translations” for submission.
