ON DEPENDENCY’S HIGHWAYS

Count up!

One, two, three, ...thirteen.

My canine companion of thirteen years is growing old with me.

Highways of dependency, the road we both must travel.

Together ‘til death do us part.

Dependent genesis.

Dependent finale.

On the best days we feel to jump and leap as in our youth, though in reality, we cannot.

Dead-ended paths overwhelm our sweetest desires.

We’re cruising highways scarred with unseen speedbumps.

Colorless mortality confronts us with our waning strength.

Maps, high contrast art, photocopy our days.

Mealtimes and subsequent ‘Poop and Scoop Excursions’

project recollected rainbows.

Scattered sunrays usher us into twilight.

All is well.

Our mutual comfort is found in our hand to paw existence.
