Moonlights
I had this strange dream of a beautiful night sky. When I woke up, I couldn't stop thinking about how beautifully scary it was and imagining it as real. The painting below is based on that dream. The poem was written in a choppy but clear way to further represent the dream and what was running through my mind after it. The poem and the painting together also explore the idea of collision. What is real and what is imaginary? What happens when our dreaming and our waking states of mind collide? Millions of questions can arise.
I invite you to think of this dream as if it were a reality, consider how much our views of the world would change and what it would mean for us if we could experience our dreams as real.

November 20, 2013Great article! I love the fact that you spoke about “dreaming” and “waking state” colliding together. Dreams can sometimes be very inspirational to some artists and can give ideas for new pieces of art. I really liked how you took that dream that you had and created something that was concrete and solid as a beautiful painting and poem. I really like the way that you have chopped-up and created spaces between words in your poem since it creates more emphasis on certain words. If your dream was reality, people’s views would be different concerning our solar system and having various moons of different shapes and sizes when we looked up at the sky. It is quite amazing how dreams can affect us once we have woken up from it.

November 24, 2013Wow! Just the fact that you remembered your dream so well that you could paint it is amazing and shows how conscious you might have been while dreaming. It’s not the best painting with moonlight but the story behind it makes it unique and AMAZING

November 25, 2013it is very intriguing to think about our dreams becoming reality. we as humans always try to decipher our dreams. whether it be taking the dream as a sign for things to come or imagining your dream being real.if the dream is realistic it is only accomplish able by no one else but the dreamer.to create this idea of collision time effort and determination are needed. dreams don’t just happen they are made by the dreamer. if your dream became reality overnight, i believe that humans would try to examine and question how this happened. it would make people believe that no matter how strange the dream is it could come true. great piece and very interesting to think about

November 27, 2013I loved this piece. Dreams have always been an enigma to me and their obscurity raises a great curiosity within me. The topic of waking life came up in one of my courses recently and I found it extremely interesting. It’s definitely something I aspire to learn more about in the future. Even the description of this page appealed to me as you described the dream as “beautifully scary”. It’s intriguing as these two words seem to contradict each other but in reality, the unknown can be quite fascinating once explored. I found it awesome how you used the two artistic mediums of poetry and painting in order to capture and express the dream to try to grasp a greater understanding of it. To me, the choppiness of the poem really emphasizes the disconnect from the dream state. As you said, it brings up many different questions but the ambiguity of our dreams shouldn’t prevent us from examine them. It seems as if in one way or another, there are collisions between everything and the connections can be found if paid enough attention (which many people fail to do). Great work!
