F-LINK: A Grab-Bag of Links about the Future
F-LINK is a grab-bag of links we've collected from all over the internet, each link connecting you to an article, image, video or podcast out there about the future. Each link is also accompanied by a short summary to help you decide if you want to to explore the link. F-LINK is not limited to the internet, either––it can include info about events around the city, books, music, films and more, all related to the future. Got a suggestion for an F-LINK? Let us know!
"Time and Space Has Been Completely Annihilated," by Rebecca J. Rosen in The Atlantic
When was the first time that we could communicate with someone who wasn't within shouting distance? Can we even imagine such a time? Rosen digs up news accounts that describe people's reactions to the development of Morse code in 1844. To these people, this new technology was as shocking as teleportation might be to us today.
Mr. Morse himself described how, "in conversing with the superintendent at the other end, he sometimes forgot himself, and was about to speak to him as though he were present, forgetting that he was talking with a man eleven or twelve miles distant." With similar, almost mytical awe, a reporter wrote, "Prof. Morse's Telegraph has already, during the first week of its operations, been proved to be of the greatest public importance. Time and space has been completely annihilated."
What techonological developments do you remember in your lifetime? Do you remember your reaction? What awe-inspiring technological developments do you think you may live to see in the future?

February 20, 2013This is beyond conception and imagination. If we succeeded to make it happen, it will be very generous to learn, to speak and to act effectively. cheapest shipping
