Ebony World
Illustrated by Rebecca Feng
Thick lips, nappy hair,
air filled with tension,
we pay attention
aware our bronze glow is seen as a threat,
sounds of siren cause us to break
a cold sweat
full of hate, they discriminate,
Gunshots, Adrenalin, Melanin
overflowing in pain
in our deepest effort not to crumble,
the dream on deck is to come a day
when life will be just
impartial
